Ruth Langsford has jumped to the defence of two paramedics who were lambasted by some social media users for posting a video of themselves dancing in an ambulance on TikTok.
On Thursday’s edition of This Morning, Ruth and Eamonn Holmes were joined by LBC radio presenter Tom Swarbrick and broadcaster Henry Bonsu to discuss the latest news headlines.
After talking about the Afghanistan crisis, they shared their views on the backlash experienced by the paramedics who posted a TikTok dance video filmed in an ambulance during their break, with Ruth explaining that some people on social media ‘blasted’ them over the clip.
Henry stressed that in his view, he believes the criticism is ‘unwarranted’ and ‘mean-spirited’ as the women were ‘clearly on a break’, emphasising how medical professionals on the frontline have ‘borne the brunt of the pandemic’.
Referencing the iconic line from Friends, Tom then chimed in: ‘I don’t want to get all Ross and Rachel about it, but they were on a break!’
Tom stated that the situation would have been different if the paramedics had been busy dancing while ignoring members of the public in need of their help, but in this instance, they were on a break from work.

Ruth questioned whether naysayers would still criticise the paramedics if they were aware of what they get up to during a typical shift at work.
‘Maybe they should do a Tiktok video of their whole day, what they actually did during the day, and then see what people have got to complain about,’ she said.

While some TikTok users criticised the women for their video, others expressed their support and delight over the uplifting dance.
In a recent tweet, Piers Morgan lambasted anyone who has criticised the hard-working medical professionals for enjoying ‘a few minutes of fun’.
‘If you’re genuinely ‘furious’ that overworked, underpaid paramedics are having a few minutes of fun in between saving lives…. You’re an imbecile,’ he wrote.
On yesterday’s edition of This Morning, Ruth ended up crying with laughter over a hidden photo of Eamonn.
‘I want to see the pic Eamonn flashed Ruth’s way to make her lose it so hard,’ one viewer tweeted in response, while another said that they had ‘never seen Ruth totally losing it before’.
This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
