Sarah Beeny has confessed that she feels immensely ‘fortunate’ to have completed cancer treatment.
The 51-year-old broadcaster was diagnosed with breast cancer last year and successfully underwent a double mastectomy, radiation, and chemotherapy. She announced in April of this year that she had been given the all-clear from the condition.
She appeared on BBC Breakfast today, looking gorgeous with short blonde hair, and offered viewers an update.
She expressed her optimism to broadcasters Jon Kay and Victoria Valentine, saying, ‘I’m incredibly blessed. I got a really fortunate diagnosis, I’m fortunate to reside in the United Kingdom, and I’m fortunate to have access to the NHS.
‘Lucky to be the age I am, so many things I’m grateful for to be honest,’ she added.
Sarah indicated that the disease had not significantly altered her personality, and she prefers to be the same person she has always been.
‘I mean it did obviously, because I had to go through treatment but I would hate to think I’m a different person now.’
Taking the positive from her experience she said: ‘I’m probably a lot less nervous of cancer now because it was like the big bad wolf and now I’m like you just deal with it’.
She also praised the development in treatment, and predicted ‘in 40 years’ time it really will be nothing’.
As Sarah continues to recuperate, she celebrates each milestone as it arrives, and she just welcomed her brows starting to grow back following chemotherapy.
Graham, her 50-year-old husband, and their four boys Billy, 18, Charlie, 16, Rafferty, 14, and Laurie, 12 years old, have all been quite supportive of Sarah.
Through their band The Entitled Sons, they even published the song These Days in support of Cancer Research UK.
