Sarah Beeny put on a unified front with her husband after revealing their marriage was ‘hanging on by its fingernails’ following her recent surgery.
The 51-year-old Property Ladder host is married to Graham Swift, with whom she has four children: Billy, 18, Charlie, 16, Rafferty, 14, and Laurie, 12.
Sarah was diagnosed with breast cancer last year and underwent a successful double mastectomy, radiation, and chemotherapy.
Then, in April 2023, she announced with delight that she had been declared the all-clear from the illness.
The procedure, however, has taken its toll, with Sarah admitting this week that things have ‘not been easy’ in her relationship with Graham.
But, obviously willing to move ahead, she and Graham posed for a loved-up snapshot that Sarah uploaded on Instagram on Friday (October 27).
Both grinned as they hugged one another outside the hospital.
In an update to her fans, the TV actress said that she had undergone further ovary surgery after testing positive for the PALB2 gene mutation.
‘Turns out little day surgery to whip out my ovaries and tubes as the last tick box after testing positive for #palb2 gene mutation isn’t quite the walk in the park I expected’, she wrote.
She acknowledged that she wasn’t feeling ‘quite as cheery’ as she had when ‘G’ left her off this morning.
‘Thanks yet again to the totally brilliant @yeovil_hospital_nhs and your AMAZING wonderful staff x’, Sarah signed off.
Fans who were pulling for her recovery left hundreds of messages of encouragement in the comments section.
‘Well this sucks!! But just another challenge you’ll overcome! Lots of self kindness please!! Sending love’, one wrote.
‘Hope you have a speedy recovery. You continue to be an inspiration xx’, penned another.
‘Aw bless you Sarah…..it’s a tough chapter for you right now. ❤️, another said.
Sarah spoke out to The Midpoint with Gabby Logan podcast earlier this week on how her health issues have affected her home life.
Sarah and Graham met on a blind date when she was 18 years old. They later married in 2002.
Reflecting, the New Life in the Country host said: ‘We’re hanging on in there by our fingernails. I mean, it’s not easy, is it?’
‘Graham always said, “The day we have to work at our marriage, I’m going to leave.” And I was like, “Really?”, But I think he has had to work at it, to be honest,’ she continued.
Sarah admitted to being ‘terrible’ at times during the last five years.
But she has promised to modify her ways for the sake of her marriage.
She recalled: ‘I was being particularly horrible and he said, “You know, the thing is Sarah, you’re not prepared to leave and have your children half the time, and neither am I, so we’re going to stay together. And we’re going to stay together happily or unhappily, so which would you like it to be?”
‘And I was like, “Oh that is quite dark, isn’t it?”
‘He said, “You wanna be happy or unhappy, because either way we’re still going to live together”, so I was like, “Ok we’ll do happy then, shall we?” he was like, “What a good idea. Maybe you should be a bit nicer?”‘
The Help My House is Falling Down star said she had taken the ‘logical’ advice on board.
