If fans weren’t already excited enough about season two of Russian Doll, the Netflix series has just added Annie Murphy to the cast.
Yep, the Schitt’s Creek favorite – who played is booked and busy after the hit sitcom wrapper and now she’s bringing her comedic skills to the dark Groundhog Day-style drama.
The announcement was made in style on the Netflix Twitter account as they wrote: ‘What a concept: Schitt’s Creek alum, the all-around flawless Emmy-winning Annie Murphy has joined the cast of Russian Doll for Season 2!’
No word yet and the role Annie is set to play but the good news is that production on the second season has officially begun.
The maniacally beautiful tale of a neverending timeloop kept us hooked from start to finish.
For those who don’t remember, the show debuted in 2019 and followed Natasha Lyonne’s Nadia as she relived her 36th birthday over and over again.
The character swept us through the streets of New York, one crazy death at a time before we then discovered that Charlie Barnett’s Alan was stuck in a parallel time loop of his own.
But seeing as the show ending on a pretty finite note – Nadia and Alan appeared to free themselves from their respective time-loop nightmares – it’s still unclear how Season 2 will play out.
We can’t wait to find out!
Meanwhile, Schitt’s Creek ended last year after a six-season run – leaving viewers missing the likes of Annie, Catherine O’Hara, Dan Levy, and his father Eugene on our screens.
