The legendary Sean Connery was remembered by James Bond co-star Valerie Leon for his care and consideration during a sex scene together in Never Say Never Again.

Valerie, 76, was the iconic Bond Girl in 1983’s franchise installment to Connery’s Bond, and after news broke this weekend that he died aged 90, she has remembered him fondly for helping her into showbiz.

Speaking to Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield on This Morning, Valerie explained as a young actress she was left bashful at the prospect of spending the day in bed with a man dubbed the ‘sexiest man in the world.’

Thankfully, Sean, who was ever the professional, was able to make her feel comfortable in the face of the moment.

Valerie explained: ‘I did have this bed scene with him, which I was in fact quite worried about because, despite my age, I’d never done a bed scene on film, that’s for sure!

‘So I was a bit worried at that, so he did put me at ease over it.’

As Holly joked that she must have enjoyed herself with so much time curled up in bed with Connery, Valerie laughed and had to admit she agreed.

‘I quite like a hairy chest!,’ she said. ‘I mean obviously filming does take a long time, and he’s a perfectionist.

‘He didn’t use his stand-in once in the morning, it would’ve been a lie-in! He could’ve stayed in bed all day.’

On his legacy as a whole, Valerie said: ‘He was the world’s greatest sex symbol and so no wonder I was nervous about going to bed with the world’s greatest sex symbol, but it was very memorable, I’m happy to say!

‘There’s no question about it. Sean made Bond, and Bond made Sean,’ she added.

‘But of course he was such an extraordinary actor. He went on to do all these amazing other parts and he was an extraordinary man, that’s for sure.;

This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV.
