The Masked Singer participants receive some covert assistance to ensure they remember their songs, and we’re impressed by the concept.
Lorraine Kelly, who recently defended herself for skipping Friday episodes of her show, was ousted from the competition over the weekend and was reflecting on her interaction with presenter Joel Dommett.
The 64-year-old admitted that she occasionally struggled to recall the lyrics, particularly to S Club 7’s “Don’t Stop Moving.” Not knowing the words to this pop classic must be a criminal offence!
Celebrities on the ITV entertainment show are required to disguise their identities by dressed in elaborate costumes. Lorraine picked an owl, and it turns out she might have utilised the big mask to her use.
Joel, 38, presented a method employed by other celebrities to address Lorraine’s issue, which was a touch too late for Lorraine but still fascinating.
‘When the head gets taken off, sometimes if it’s a big costume they have the words written on the inside,’ explained Joel.
He stated that Piranha, who has yet to be named, is one celebrity that employs this cheating strategy.
Lorraine, who was stunned, immediately responded by labelling the celebs who used the hack ‘swines’.
Joel rubbed salt in the wound by adding: ‘You missed out.’
Before Lorraine was exposed, judges Rita Ora, Mo Gilligan, Devina McCall, and Jonathan Ross guessed Emily Atack, Gabby Logan, and Alex Scott, despite Lorraine admitting to accidentally slipping back into her Scottish accent a few times.
Mo, 35, was so certain it was Alex that he threatened to perform the following act in his ‘boxers and socks’ if he was mistaken.
It appears he had to pull out his best pair, as Joel suggested that if you like Mo and boxers, you should watch this weekend.
Lorraine told Joel she found the whole experience a lot of fun, but noted she couldn’t see at all owing to the costume, which she put back on for her midday programme.
Lorraine, who claimed to be uninformed of the technique during an interview with the Absolutely Fabulous star last week, could consider acting after seeing Julia Sawalha revealed as Bubble Tea on the previous episode of Masked Singer. Even Joel was amazed with her ability to disguise the truth.
The series has revealed Dionne Warwick as Weather, Alexander Armstrong as Chicken Caesar, and Shirley Ballas as Rat.
The Masked Singer continues Saturday at 6:25pm on ITV. Lorraine airs every weekday at 8am.
