A 26-year-old woman is left horrified on a new dating show when her boyfriend decides to buy her and his mother matching lingerie.
In I Love A Mama’s Boy, Matt, 29, tries to spice up his three-year relationship with Kim, 26, by getting her some underwear – and brings his mum Kelly along to help out.
Kelly, 57, is more than vocal about what she wants her son to buy – and by the end of their day out at the shops he ends up buying both women in his life matching lingerie.
The decision horrifies the sales assistant who tries to maintain her composure throughout the visit, as Kelly declares they are looking for something ‘spicy’ and ‘with razzle dazzle’.
Explaining his decision to bring his mother along, Matt tells the camera: ‘There is some intimacy that has fallen short because we do live with my mum and she [Kim] thinks that my mum sometimes around a little bit too much.
‘If I ask my mum her opinion, I’m going to get a for sure guarantee of a good response!’
In a first look clip exclusive to Metro.co.uk, Kelly is seen eyeing up a small silky robe after helping Matt pick out a skimpy seethrough number for Kim.
Without hesitating, Matt agrees to buy it for Kim, and then also his mother.
Somehow, we doubt Kim’s going to be happy about the outfit clash.
Matt and Kim were forced to move in with Kelly after a fire in their building, and ever since then Kim has been left unnerved by how close her other half is to his mum.
In fact Kim says: ‘I don’t want his mum to be his number one. It’s just a lot more challenging than I initially thought it would be.’
Kelly isn’t oblivious to the power struggle either (though it seems Matt might be), and declares that she will always be the main woman in Matt’s life.
‘I think they make a great couple, and I like Kim and I want my son to be happy,’ she says.
‘But in life there is a hierarchy, and I’m right at the top.’
With Matt looking to propose to his girlfriend soon, and Kelly less than happy about it, will they find a way to make it work?
I Love A Mama’s Boy streams on discovery+ from Monday 18th January.
