The actress – whose character Ruby Matthews has been dubbed the real star of the third season – also revealed she was excited for fans to see her character’s ‘vulnerable side.’

Speaking to, she said: ‘I think when you play a character for, like, a couple of years, you build who they are in your mind, and you make a story for them, and their background.

The third series of the comedy drama was released last week, and if you weren’t part of the few who binged all eight episodes in a matter of hours, you might want to tread carefully.

The season was well received by critics and fans alike, especially for shining a light on the non-binary experience and rejection of the male gaze.

However, the question fans want answered: will there be a fourth season?

Producers are yet to confirm what lies ahead for the Moordale kids, but it’s safe to say Asa Butterfield and Ncuti Gatwa would return for a fourth season along with Aimee Lou Wood, Gillian Anderson and the rest of the main cast members – but will Emma Mackay be back after Maeve made the decision to head to America?

Sex Education season three is available now on Netflix.
