The stars of the forthcoming Shane Warne mini-series were sent to the hospital following a bungled sex scene.
The Australian athlete died of a heart attack in March 2021, while on vacation in Thailand, at the age of 52.
The two-part drama, which was announced last year, will feature Alex Williams and will explore the narrative of the late cricketer’s life.
The actress who plays Warne’s ex-wife Simone Callahan, the mother of his three children, has now revealed that she and Alex had a minor accident on filming.
Marny Kennedy stated that the duo were brought to the hospital following a particularly hot session.
‘We were going down a corridor and we were meant to push into the bedroom and land on the bed, but we both completely missed the bed,’ she said.
‘We ended up sitting in the emergency room together, he with a bandage around his head and me with my wrist strapped.
‘It was just Alex and I with our bleached hair, fully still in wardrobe, sitting there surrounded by elderly residents,’ she added when speaking to The Daily Telegraph.
While they ultimately saw the light, their injuries were severe, with Marny suffering a fractured wrist and Alex cracking the back of his skull open.
However, after taking a photograph together in the hospital, they subsequently created customised mugs with the shot to commemorate the event.
Warne’s affair with Elizabeth Hurley will also be shown in the series, with the teaser hinting some additional hot scenes.
Liz (played by Shanti Kali) was straddling Shane in a hotel room in one scene, while the two groped one other and kissed passionately in another.
While the show will focus on his illustrious career, the teaser also shows Shane partying, drinking, gambling, and driving luxury sports cars off the pitch.
The series was originally criticised by some close to Warne, including his daughter Brooke, after it was unveiled six months after his death.
While she called it “beyond insulting,” the Nine Network has subsequently said that they talked with his family during pre-production and received their approval to proceed.
Warnie will air on Channel Nine in Australia later this year.
