Why Simon Cowell isn’t on the BGT Whatsapp Group Provider: (Picture:ITV/REX/Whatsapp)
David Williams has explained why Simon Cowell isn’t in the Britain’s Got Talent WhatsApp group, despite fellow judges Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and the Little Britain star chatting on there all the time.
Britain’s Got Talent is taking a year out due to the coronavirus pandemic, with the early auditions featuring performers hoping to win over a crowded room proving almost impossible under current coronavirus restrictions.
In turn, like everyone else, the judges are naturally constantly catching up on WhatsApp – except for Simon.
‘Simon doesn’t have a mobile phone but Amanda, Alesha add I talk on it a lot and share pictures and jokes,’ David told OK! Magazine.
However, the panel did find a replacement for the music mogul.
‘We really liked Ashley Banjo who stepped in to do the live shows last year, so he’s on there now too. We loved him and he has become a good friend,’ David continued.

Ashley stepped in to take Simon’s seat on the BGT panel in 2020 after the former Syco boss broke his back in a bike accident.
The dancer – who won BGT in 2009 with his troupe Diversity – proved a huge hit with viewers, and even managed to bag a Bafta nomination for the group’s performance highlighting key moments of 2020.
Speaking on Good Morning Britain last week, though, the 32-year-old admitted he doesn’t expect to be back on Britain’s Got Talent when it eventually returns in 2022.
‘I think Simon is going to kick me out,’ he told hosts Susanna Reid and Alastair Campbell.
‘I think he’s healthy and recovered and probably eager to get back.’
Britain’s Got Talent returns to ITV in 2022.
