Sir Cliff Richard made a BBC reporter laugh after getting his AI mixed up.
The 83-year-old musician was speaking with BBC Breakfast’s Charlie Stayt for a fresh interview when he incorrectly referred to ‘artificial insemination’ after performing a song for the cameras.
Earlier in the conversation, Sir Cliff discussed his health and stated that owing to his age, he has had to slow down.
However, he quipped: ‘Fortunately I can still sing and that’s the main thing and I don’t need AI for help.’
Later in the interview, Charlie asked the veteran entertainer to treat them to a little tune, which led to him breaking into his own song My Kinda Life, before shaking the reporter’s hand.
‘And I didn’t need artificial insemination,’ he said in an attempt to reference their earlier conversation, leaving Charlie in fits of laughter.

‘That is the best line of all. That is a whole different ball game,’ he howled, as Sir Cliff replied: ‘Oh dear.’
We can never look at AI the same again, and viewers clearly agreed as one person joked on X/Twitter: ‘I neither want or need to see the words/names/phrases “Cliff Richard” and “artificial insemination” used together in any context. Ever.’
And someone else quipped: ‘Someone somewhere was bound to say it. Just didn’t expect it to be Cliff. Love him.’
The Summer Holiday hitmaker has marked 65 years in the music profession, and despite some back troubles, he has no intentions to quit.
‘I used to have trouble with the lower part of my back and this chair is not good for it because normally I’d have a cushion,’ he said, noting he’s going on tour after recently turning 83.
‘I feel fantastic. I am going on tour, I have got a book out, I’ve got an album coming out, and when the tour starts they are going to film it and I am going to be in the cinema,’ he added.
‘So [how do] I feel? Fabulous,’ he smiled, while admitting he has ‘tried to slow down’ over the past few years, and made decisions such as having ‘a day off every other day’ on the road.
‘I have in the last few years tried to slow down because otherwise, I don’t do as much,’ he explained. ‘Well, for instance, I am going to do a tour, I try to make sure that I have a day off every other day so I am not constantly singing.
‘And obviously, I don’t want to retire but I am probably going to stop like a red light… I have still left myself open to things for as long as I can. Fortunately I can still sing and that’s the main thing and I don’t need AI for help.
‘I won’t need it because the minute I can’t sing I won’t do it anymore.’
