The live interview with Sir Richard Branson on Good Morning Britain did not go as planned due to a noisy cricket.
The British millionaire appeared on Wednesday’s ITV news show with hosts Kate Garraaway and Richard Madeley to discuss his’superpower’ dyslexia and how it helped him achieve success.
However, if any viewers were hoping to take notes in the hopes of becoming as wealthy and successful as Sir Richard, that plan is likely to have failed because there was a highly distracting, persistent loud noise while the mogul was speaking.
Sir Richard emerged by video connection from Mallorca, and somewhere near his computer, a cricket was chirping loudly and incessantly.
And it didn’t go ignored; in fact, despite Sir Richard’s comments on UK air traffic issues and school and exam advise, all social media could talk about was, you guessed it, cricket.
‘Is that a cricket or the smoke alarm battery needs changing,’ one person wrote, while one despaired, ‘Someone get rid of that cricket!’
‘Richard Branson has brought along his pet cricket to the interview,’ another sarcastic viewer joked.
‘Someone tell Branson to kill that cricket!’ another demanded.
One viewer shared a photo of a cricket, jokingly writing: ‘Hi Mum I’m on the tele!’
But another, not seeing the funny side, said the ‘cricket noise was doing my head in, had to switch over!’
And as one put it: ‘FFS SHUT THAT NOISE UP!’
Sir Richard was scheduled to appear and discuss how he believes he did not have to overcome his dyslexia in order to be successful, but that it is part of the reason why.
He was also questioned on the UK air traffic breakdown, which caused severe aircraft delays and stranded thousands of people.
The problem began on Monday, when more than a fifth of flights at UK airports were cancelled, and some have warned that it might continue two weeks.
