Someone has valued how much Bridgerton jewellery would be worth in real life

Warning: spoilers ahead for season one of Bridgerton.

When watching Bridgerton, you can’t help but lose yourself in the world of Regency-era London, complete with extravagant balls, estates full of splendour and a whole lot of juicy drama.

To the Bridgertons, the Featheringtons and Queen Charlotte (Golda Rosheuvel), wearing custom gowns for each ball they attend and accessorising with dazzling jewels is just part and parcel of life as an aristocrat in the early 1800s.

But how much would their jewellery actually be worth in real life today?

One of the most unforgettable pieces of jewellery worn by a character in Bridgerton is the stunning necklace given to Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor) by Prince Frederick of Prussia (Freddie Stroma), the Queen’s nephew, while he is courting her.

According to OnBuy.com and jewellery experts Steven Stone, the white gold large diamond necklace would be worth an astonishing £3.5m today, a prediction given due the five diamonds on the necklace that would each be around 10ct.

Another necklace worn by Daphne in the series, a gold pear shape diamond necklace, wouldn’t fetch quite as much… although it’s still predicted to be worth a hefty £600,000, with the main diamond estimated to be 6ct.

The most expensive piece of jewellery on the show, according to the jewellery experts, is the Queen’s yellow gold pigeon blood ruby drop earrings, which are expected to be worth £7m in real life, due to their rarity.

Coming in second is the Queen’s white gold diamond tiara, which would be valued at £5m as it would contain over 100ct of diamonds.

As for the monarch’s whhite gold marquise diamond necklace, Steven Stone predicts it would cost £3m in today’s market.

When Marina Thompson (Ruby Barker) attends one of the season’s balls with her cousins, the Featheringtons, she can be seen wearing a gold diamond necklace to match her bright yellow gown.

It’s believed her elegant necklace would be worth £1.5m in real life.

One of the lower-valued items evaluated by Steven Stone is the turquoise butterfly necklace worn by Portia Featherington (Polly Walker), the matriarch of the Featherington household.

According to the firm’s findings, the necklace would cost £25,000 – still an incredible amount for an item of jewellery, despite other pieces’ supposed values reaching the millions.

There has recently been speculation that Regé-Jean Page, who plays Simon Basset, the Duke of Hastings in the period drama, could replace Daniel Craig as the next James Bond.

Before the postulation was widely discussed, Regé-Jean coincidentally made a James Bond reference while promoting Bridgerton, tweeting the phrase ‘Shaken and stirred’ alongside a video of him in character in December.

Bridgerton season one is available to watch on Netflix.
