Spitting Image will air two specials to cover all the key moments and circus around the upcoming US election. Aren’t we lucky?

The two episodes of the satirical puppet show, which returned earlier this month after 24 years, will poke fun at the contest Donald Trump and Joe Biden.

Both instalments will be available to watch on streaming service BritBox from the morning of October 31, while fans will have a one-off chance to watch the first episode of the special on ITV on the evening of October 31.

Kevin Lygo, BritBox Originals Creative Chief and ITV’s Director of TV enthused: ‘This is a great chance to celebrate Spitting Image’s noisy return after 18 years and give ITV viewers a taste of the full series, available on BritBox.’

Meanwhile, Creator Roger Law added: ‘Spitting Image returns to ITV for a one-off special on the 31 October at 10pm. Halloween. How very appropriate.’

It has already been announced that Spitting Image has been renewed for a second series in 2021.

The show originally ran for 18 series between 1984 and 1996 and was watched by 15 million viewers in its heyday.

Produced throughout the pandemic, over 100 puppets have already been developed by socially distanced teams of artists ready for launch, including Baby Yoda, Barack Obama, and Boris Johnson.

In September, creator Roger hit back against complaints the puppets are racist and insisted its portrayal of black celebrities is fair game.

‘People sit around looking for things to complain about, and I do big noses and big ears. It’s personal – it’s not a racist thing,’ he said.

‘[Personal parody] has more effect on individuals than waxing lyrical about their policies.’

Spitting Image is available to stream on BritBox with the new episodes landing October 31.
