Stacey Solomon‘s Renovation Rescue premieres tonight, demonstrating that the presenter is clearly in her home renovation heyday.
If you’re not watching Stacey clear out clutter on BBC’s Sort Your Life Out, you can now find her on Channel 4 conversing with homeowners trying to alter their area.
Anyone who follows her on Instagram will recognise that she is qualified, having spent the previous few years on a one-woman quest to make Pickle Cottage even more lovely, equipped with a paintbrush, a glue gun, and a dream.
The six episodes, directed by Stacey, 34, have added credibility since Hello Sunshine, the media firm founded by Hollywood actress Reese Witherspoon, produced the series.
Stacey’s public existence began on The X Factor in 2009, then moved on to Loose Women before embarking on a new chapter as a social media sensation and TV’s hottest property.
Let’s look at her life outside of TV and profession thus far.
Stacey Solomon’s home
Stacey and her husband Joe Swash, 42, moved into their incredible house, reportedly worth over £1million, in 2021.
The Essex home, which is surrounded by more than two acres of land, was called after Stacey’s children’s nickname, and she has customised the space to meet her family’s needs.
Stacey may be doing well for herself, but it hasn’t prevented her from doing some DIY. For each endeavour, she recorded the process on Instagram or in her book, Tap to Tidy. We’ve watched her jet wash her swimming pool area, stencil her children’s bedrooms, and even surprise Joe with his own ‘den’. We are just wondering when Stacey sleeps.
She doesn’t plan to stop anytime soon either, recently confessing: ‘I don’t think I’ll ever be done DIYing… Although don’t tell Joe that. It’s almost therapeutic for me.’
After months of getting everything to their taste, Pickle Cottage was used as a venue for a special occasion…
Stacey Solomon’s family life
Joe and Stacey said ‘I do’ in front of their loved ones on July 24, 2022, after seven years of dating in the spot where they feel the most happy.
Announcing their nuptials, Stacey wrote: ‘🕊Forever 🕊 Me and My Husband 😭 I don’t think I will ever get used to saying that. It all feels like a dream.’
She then quoted Dr. Suess: ‘You know you’re in love when you don’t want to fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams.’
On their wedding day, the couple already had two children, Rex, four, and Rose, two, but they had no idea there was an extra visitor in Stacey’s stomach. They could not have been happier, even if it came as a surprise.
‘So grateful & can not believe I’m saying this… Another little pickle is on the way… 😭 A HUGE surprise, but one that we are so thankful for,’ wrote Stacey.
Belle was born in February last year, with Stacey sharing: ‘We can’t wait to love you forever and ever we are so grateful we get to be your family.’
Their three children share older siblings – Stacey’s boys Zachary, 16, Leighton, 11, and Joe’s son Harry, 16 – and form a wonderful mixed family.
Teddy and Peanut, the pups, are two more treasured members of their tribe.
Her close-knit family also includes her sister Jemma Solomon, who operates the firm The Label Laby, which Lord Alan Sugar has invested in. Stacey frequently attaches her sister’s belongings to her grocery jars.
Stacey has a very useful family, as her other sister Samantha Stone is a personal trainer who has been assisting her in using Pickle Cottage’s garage gym, and her father David Solomon is a photographer who frequently captures beautiful family photos, which Stacey shares with her 5.9 million Instagram followers.
Stacey Solomon’s journey from The X Factor to TV star
Stacey first appeared on our screens in 2009 on the talent show The X Factor, where she advanced to the final. From the minute she said ‘Hiya’ to Simon Cowell, British television changed forever.
When asked if she was good at singing, our modest Queen answered, ‘I hope so, you may not think so.’ Stacey, then 19, received four yeses from judges Simon, Louis Walsh, Danni Osbourne, and Cheryl Cole after performing What a Wonderful World.
Although her voice range was outstanding, her personality showed just as brightly, leading to further television employment.
Stacey was a single mother who had her first kid as a teenager. When asked about becoming a parent at such a young age, she answered, ‘I haven’t done anything that millions haven’t done’ and expressed gratitude for having such a supportive family.
She now ‘barely recalls’ life before parenting, but she does recall the criticisms she received.
‘I do remember all of the looks I’d get & all of the things that people would say when they saw a “child raising a child”. I can’t believe I am now a mummy of 5,’ she wrote on Instagram.
She continued in the defiant caption: ‘And all I can say is, not one of those judgments or opinions back then were true.
‘No matter how real they felt I look at each of them now and I have never felt so proud. They are the kindest most amazing people and I was a part of that.’
The following year, she appeared on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! and become the Queen of the Jungle. Joe, her future husband, was the reigning champion when he placed the crown on her head.
Stacey went on to feature on The Jump, where celebs taught winter sports (and ended up in a relationship with Jackass co-star, Steve-O – the streets never forget), and was eventually the presenter of I’m a Celebrity.Get me out of here! Extra Camp is a spin-off of the main show.
By 2016, she was a frequent panellist on Loose Women, where she exploited the show’s platform to build her own social media presence.
She is presently the most popular ITV presenter, with fans loving glimpses into her life as a mother of five, her relationship with fellow influencer Mrs Hinch, and seeing her arrange every inch of her house. A 60-second video of Stacey replenishing the snack cabinet is quite interesting, and we will not be told differently.
Stacey frequently uses Instagram to highlight small businesses and has lately started putting her own money in them. She started with Rehab, which sells vegan and cruelty-free hair products. Someone needs to get Stacey on Dragons’ Den; she’s certainly got the money, since it was recently claimed that she earns nearly the average yearly wage of UK citizens per week, which is £27,000.
Although Stacey rarely appears on Loose Women (her last appearance was five months ago), she is mostly focused on her own series, which include Sort Your Life Out, which just earned a Royal Television Society award, Crafty Christmas, and her most recent offering, Stacey Solomon’s Renovation Rescue.
Stacey will meet people who are struggling with their renovations and help them fulfil their dreams by teaching them how to do the work yourself and save money.
‘We don’t just want to come in and ‘fix’. We want to teach people the skills they need and prove that even on a tight budget you can achieve your dream house,’ she shared.
Speaking about the show’s connection to Reese, 48, she said: ‘It’s amazing… I love what Reese Witherspoon, who founded Hello Sunshine, is trying to do in the industry – they want to shine a light on women. It’s an absolute honour to be working with the team.’
Stacey Solomon’s Renovation Rescue begins tonight at 9pm on Channel 4
