It’s been confirmed that Tig Notaro will return for her role as Commander Jett Reno in Star Trek: Discovery.
The CBS show was recently renewed for a fourth season, and the actress will be back – albeit in a slightly reduced capacity.
Speaking on the Fitz Dog podcast with comedian Greg Fitzsimmon, Tig revealed that her opportunities were limited as she wasn’t ready to fly to Toronto during the outbreak.
However, she’s most definitely back in action in the new run.
‘I am on the CBS show Star Trek: Discovery… [as] Commander Jett Reno. They let me name myself and I named myself after Joan Jett, but it does sound like Janet Reno, I know… I’m the comedic relief and it’s so much fun,’ she said [via Trekmovie.com].
Jett Reno joined the Discovery’s crew after being rescued in season two, and she settled in very quickly.
Star Trek Discovery was officially renewed for a fourth season back in October. The news was announced in a video, announcing that production was due to begin at the start of November.
The new series begins with the USS Discovery crew blasted 930 years into the future. They soon discover that the galaxy has been hit by a catastrophic event known as ‘The Burn’.
‘Oh my goodness, I am so excited to be back on set,’ Sonequa, who plays Michael Burnham, said.
‘It’s going to be so great to see everybody and really love on each other. ‘I’m so excited to be giving you a season four, and to watch season three. That’s what I’m really excited about.’
Doug, who plays Commander Saru, added: ‘I’m looking forward to the one thing I always look most forward to when we get to come back for another season, and that is to be reunited with my family again, the Trek family, the Discovery family.’
Star Trek: Discovery season three is available to stream on Netflix.
