Star Trek: Picard has released the trailer for season two and there is a lot to unpack.
Set to debut on Paramount+ and Amazon Prime Video in February 2022, the second outing of the series dropped this extended sneak peek during the second annual Star Trek Day.
At the event, it was also announced that the show was already renewed for a third season.
The trailer sees John de Lancie make a return as Q who threatens Sir Patrick Stewart’s Jean-Luc Picard when he travels back in time to turn the world into a totalitarian nightmare.
‘I am way too old for your bullsh-,’ says Picard in the trailer, before Q’s snap of a finger changed the world forever.
Time has been broken and the only way to heal the future is to go back in time to repair the past.
Alongside his crew, Picard has to travel to the Earth of the 21st century and undo Q’s nightmare in three days before the future is changed irreparably.
Returning cast members include Alison Pill as Agnes Jurati, Isa Briones as Soji Asha, Evan Evagora as Elnor, Michelle Hurd as Rafaella Musiker and Santiago Cabrera as Cristóbal Rios.
Jeri Ryan also reprised her role as Seven of Nine, originally from Star Wars: Voyager.
Brent Spiner, whose iconic Data from The Next Generation appeared in season one, is also included in the cast for season two.
Debuting in the upcoming instalment is Annie Wersching as the Borg Queen, meaning there will be some more Borg troubles ahead for the gang.
Stewart also previously invited Whoopi Goldberg, who played Guinan in an episode of the franchise back in the ’80s, to reprise her role in season two of his show.
But whether or not that cameo came to fruition is still to be seen.
Star Trek: Picard streams on Paramount + in the US and Amazon Prime Video in the UK with season 2 coming in February 2020.
