A new teaser for Stranger Things season 4 has been released, finally treating fans to some exciting footage of the upcoming new episodes.
While viewers have a while to wait until the new season drops on Netflix, there is still plenty to unpack in the sneak peek, with clips featuring fan-favourites including Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), Jim Hopper (David Harbour) and the rest of the gang.
Very little is known about the plot of season four, other than the fact that Hopper is very much alive – having been previously presumed dead – and has been kept captive as a prisoner in Russia.
Eleven, who was rendered powerless at the end of season three, was last seen leaving Hawkins with the Byers family, bidding an emotional farewell to Mike Wheeler (Finn Wolfhard) and the rest of her friends.
The newly hints at further trips into Eleven’s past, while the remainder of the friendship group left in Hawkins do some digging in all sorts of places, inluding a spooky house and underwater.
As we look at the trailer frame by frame, what can it tell us about season four?
Running out of time?
Well this isn’t foreboding at all… (Picture: Netflix)
At the very beginning of the sneak peek in the new teaser, a large grandfather clock is shown in what looks like an attic that’s been boarded up, with just a little bit of light escaping through the cracks.
The image of the clock is ominous, potentially hinting that the group are running out of time on whatever mission they’re embarking on next.
Is Eleven still lacking her powers?

At the end of season three, Eleven was left seemingly powerless, having previously boasted powerful telepathic and psychokinetic abilities.
In a new clip from season four, the teenager – who’s previously shaven hair has now grown out and been styled into bangs – is being held back by two men in suits.
With the open backdoor of a vehicle visible in the background, this could mean that the men are placing her in the vehicle, or that they’ve just escorted her out of it.
What is Eleven starting at so anxiously and could the fact that the men in suits are holding her back mean that she still cannot summon her powers?
Things are getting spooky
Because walking into a haunted house is always a good idea… (Picture: Netflix)
Surely the gang would know better than to decide to explore a spooky-looking house?
Well, apparently not.
From the silhouette, it looks like it may be Nancy Wheeler (Natalia Dyer) leading the charge as the group delve even deeper into the mysterious goings-on of Hawkins.
The gang gawk at something curious

While we’re obviously curious to know what the gang could all be staring at, we’re also pretty certain that in this very instant, the quick-witted Robin Buckley (Maya Hawke) has something sarcastic to say about it.
Is the puzzled expression on Steve Harrington’s (Joe Keery) face in response to Robin’s sardonic remark or genuine befuddlement over whatever it is that’s caught the group’s attention?
Hopper arrives to heat things up

Following his presumed death, Hopper is ready to return with a bang, cautiously walking through a doorway while holding what appears to be a flamethrower.
With his new shaven look, Hopper clearly means business as he hopefully sets out on a mission to reunite with Eleven.
Amid the horror, there’s always some cheer

While the fate of the universe may rest in the balance, the other residents of Hawkins remain largely none the wiser, continuing with their lives as if everything is hunky dory.
If only they knew…
Burning car wreckage hints at disaster
Who was in the car? (Picture: Netflix)
The sight of a car that’s flipped over and is on fire definitely raises several questions, most importantly the identity of the person who was in the vehicle and if they survived.
But also – who is the individual watching the wreckage burn? Were they involved in the crash and if so, how did they make it out alive?
What’s Steve discovered under the sea?

Ok, Steve might not be literally under the sea, but he is doing some underwater exploring.
This is definitely one of the most perplexing snapshots from the trailer, as it’s extremely baffling what could have lead Steve under the water.
Perhaps he’s doing some investigating in the same quarry where the replica of Will Byer’s (Noah Schnapp) body was found in season one?
A risky roll of the dice
How will the game unfold? (Picture: Netflix)
We know from the very beginning of Stranger Things that the group of friends at the core of the story love playing Dungeons & Dragons.
In the first episode, the arrival of the Demogorgon piece on the board hinted at the trouble that was to come for Will later on.
Will this game shed more light on the monsters that will cross their path?
A flashback to Eleven’s past?

It’s already been hinted that season four will take viewers back to Eleven’s past, when she was experimented on and controlled in her youth.
Could these flashbacks indicate that Eleven will meet more of her long-lost sisters, who also have special powers?
The bikes are back in town

If you want to be a part of the coolest crew in Hawkins, then you’d better fetch yourself a bike.
In the dead of the night, the gang speed off into the unknown, clearly on an important mission.
It looks like Lucas Sinclair’s (Caleb McLaughlin) younger sister Erica (Priah Ferguson) may also be along for the ride.
The more Erica there is in the series, the better!
