If Stranger Things fans thought the Netflix series couldn’t get any creepier, they’re going to be in for a real treat when season 4 arrives, with star Finn Wolfhard teasing lots of scares around the corner.

Season 3 of Stranger Things, which came out in 2019, left several cliffhangers for viewers to unravel, with Hopper (David Harbour) presumed dead and a powerless Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) moving away with the Byer family.

It’s since been confirmed that Hopper is in fact still alive, with a recent teaser released for the new season featuring a spooky, mysterious house full of clues, a burning car wreck and possible flashbacks to Eleven’s past.

By the time Stranger Things returns, it’ll have been three years since fans were transported to Hawkins in the 1980s, so it’s no surprise that the excitement levels are at an all-time high.

During a recent interview with Apple Music, Finn, who plays Mike Wheeler in the show, shed some light on the direction of the upcoming episodes, implying that viewers need to prepare for the unexpected.

When asked by presenter Matt Wilkinson about the new season, the actor replied: ‘Well, it’s gnarly Matt. I know the other seasons and stuff were scary.’

The 18-year-old said that while they always say that the new season is ‘scarier’, the one coming up is going to make fans quake in their boots.

‘We say it every year like, “This season’s scarier. This season’s scarier.” This season is like truly messed up, and it’s going to freak people out a lot,’ he said.

‘You know the Duffer Brothers are doing things that people haven’t seen before in the show, which is really refreshing, because if the show has been going on for as long as it has, you want people to still care.’

Finn also responded to the fact that Mike doesn’t make a notable appearance in the season four trailer.

Nonetheless, viewers can rest assured that Mike will be back, with Finn confirming: ‘There’ll be stuff out soon where I’m in it eventually.’

While little is known about the new season of Stranger Things, which was created by brothers Matt and Ross Duffer, if the title of the first episode is anything to go by – Chapter One: The Hellfire Club – then we’re in for one hell of a horrifying adventure.

Stranger Things is available to watch on Netflix.
