The Made In Chelsea original and pro Karen Hauer found themselves in the bottom two last week with their American Smooth to Night and Day, after only earning 17 out of 30.
But thankfully, the judges gave the pair another shot at the competition, and sent Jacqui Smith and Anton Du Beke home instead.
As they come up to movie week tonight, Jamie isn’t worried about landing in the bottom again, and defended his ballroom routine despite it’s low score.
‘Can I just say, our American Smooth, was a delight. It was! The lines were great. Karen looked amazing, we were fantastic,’ Jamie told Metro.co.uk in an exclusive chat.
‘We just have a very love/hate relationship with Craig and he just loves to not like us, and I just think it’s a tactic of flirting. That’s what I think it is, for me and Karen. It’s got to be!’
‘Yeah, I don’t get it. It was only when that red light came on, I was like, “sorry, does that mean we won? We’re the best?! OK”,’ he laughed.
Hopefully, the pair will have better luck this time around – with a Hercules-inspired Charleston to certified Disney banger, Zero To Hero.
Asking what to expect, Jamie seemed to have big (if somewhat unlikely) dreams for the routine.
He laughed: ‘Karen’s dressing up as Pegasus! It’s going to be so epic! I’ve got a saddle and everything! We’re flying in and I’m riding Karen as we come in from the ceiling!’
While that is definitely one way to get some votes, Karen, who was laughing alongside him, quickly debunked that certainly unique, but definitely false, idea.
She then told us: ‘The Charleston is such a fun dance and you know, it lifts spirits and it’s quite quirky and comical in a way.
‘So the fact that we get to play characters and that Jamie gets to play Hercules. I mean, nobody has ever played Hercules before on Strictly! So I think it’s a fun dance that you can let go and it really suits Jamie as well.
‘If we smash it tomorrow, or when we smash it tomorrow, I think people will see that side of Jamie that everybody’s kind of looking for.’
‘The great thing is, in all the 20 or so years of Strictly Come Dancing, apparently no one’s left on the Charleston,’ Jamie then asserted.
‘…But there’s always a first!’
Strictly Come Dancing continues tonight at 7.25pm on BBC One.
