Strictly 2020: Max George and Dianne Buswell’s bonkers The Simpsons routine goes viral – but did you love or hate it?

Max George and Dianne Buswell’s The Simpsons inspired routine on Strictly Come Dancing has gone viral – with people both loving and hating it.

On a day when the Presidential election win took over the world, it takes some doing to get people’s attention, but these two managed to do it with their street commercial routine.

Dressed as Homer and Marge Simpson, completely coated from head-to-toe in yellow paint, the pair were seen turning legs into saxophones, riding donuts and performing a can can in the stand-out moment.

Hey, it’s 2020, anything can happen at this point, right?

It was no doubt entertaining, with all three judges – Craig Revel-Horwood, Motsi Mabuse and Shirley Ballas, all awarding eight out of 10 for the effort.

It left them with a score of 24/30, landing them square in the middle of the leaderboard.

But in a bizarre evening for the internet anyway, the routine tipped fans over the edge – and it soon picked up online, with even the Simpsons showrunner retweeting it as it went viral.

While many got on board with the brightly coloured routine, others dubbed it ‘horrifying’.

Everyone had to agree though – Max and Dianne had certainly delivered one hell of a memorable performance:

Whether it’s enough to get them through to the next round remains to be seen, with the results show airing tonight.

Ranvir Singh took a surprise lead during movie week, earning the highest score of the season so far with 27 out of 30 with Giovanni Pernice for a Dreamgirls inspired Foxtrot.

Bill Bailey wasn’t far behind with 26 for a Paso Doble in the style of The Good, The Bad and The Ugly.

However, down at the bottom of the scoreboard was NFL player Jason Bell, who alongside Luba Mushtuk only scored 12 points for their Star Wars Paso Doble.

Nicola Adams and Katya Jones also didn’t impress with their Jive to Greased Lightning.

Have they done enough for the viewers to save them?

Strictly Come Dancing continues tonight at 7.25pm on BBC One.
