Janette Manrara may be hours away from potentially achieving her first ever win on Strictly Come Dancing with her celebrity partner HRVY, but did you know that she previously starred on hit musical TV series Glee?
In 2013, Janette, 37, became a professional dancer on Strictly, alongside her partner Aljaž Škorjanec, 30.
Before that, Janette starred on American TV show So You Think You Can Dance, finishing in the top eight of the competition in season five in 2009.
In between her stints on televised dance programmes, Janette took her talents elsewhere, becoming a principal dancer on Glee, which aired from 2009 until 2015.
Janette joined the cast as a member of Vocal Adrenaline, an elite rival show choir to New Directions, the glee club run by Mr Schuester (Matthew Morrison).
In this clip from season three, you can spot her bringing her signature joy to the stage, dancing to Boogie Shoes alongside Glee star Alex Newell.
Yep, that’s the ball of energy we know and love!
In 2012, Janette shared a tweet expressing how much she enjoyed being a member of Vocal Adrenaline.
‘Always such a good time on Glee!’ she wrote.
‘Love being a part of Vocal Adrenaline! Much Love to Alex Newell!’
Two years prior, the dancer tweeted that she was rehearsing for Glee at Paramount, saying that she was ‘one step closer to my acting dream’.
Over the years, numerous Glee fans have voiced their surprise over spotting Janette in musical numbers on the show.
‘Can’t believe I just discovered @JManrara was in Glee!?!?! WHAT!!!!!’ one person wrote, to which Janette replied: ‘Loved doing it!’
‘I’ve been rewatching Glee for a few weeks now, and I can’t believe I’ve only just spotted @JManrara dancing!!!’ someone else remarked.
All these years later, it’s still incredible to see what Janette got up to before her days on the Strictly dancefloor!
Tonight, Janette and HRVY are set to perform a Showdance to Brittany Murphy’s version of Boogie Wonderland, in addition to reprising their Jive to Faith by Stevie Wonder and their American Smooth to One (Singular Sensation) from the musical A Chorus Line.
Ahead of the season finale, Aljaz shared a supportive message for his wife and her dance partner on Instagram, quoting the late Sir Bruce Forsyth as he told them: ‘YOU ARE MY FAVOURITE.’
The Strictly Come Dancing final airs tonight at 6pm on BBC One.
