Strictly Come Dancing fans have taken to social media in their droves to share their disappointment after Clara Amfo became the fifth celebrity to be eliminated from the show.

The Radio 1 DJ and her dance partner Aljaz Skorjanec were voted off the BBC series last night, and ‘gutted’ viewers were quick to question the decision.

The pair landed in the bottom two with Jamie Laing and Karen Hauer when the result of the public vote and the judges’ votes was added together.

They performed their Jive to River Deep Mountain High by Tina Turner a second time. Craig Revel Horwood chose to save them, but it wasn’t enough to keep them in the competition and Clara and Aljaz were sent home.

Fans, however, seem to have a different opinion on how things should have gone down.

Viewers were distraught after the result, taking to social media to share their frustrations. People questioned the judges’ decision, while a number of them were baffled by the fact that JJ Chalmers remained in the competition.

‘I’ve officially lost it. Clara was my fave,’ one wrote.

‘So we’ve lost clara who’s exciting and fun to watch and has been good enough to be at the top of the leaderboard yet we’ve still got JJ who’s been doing practically the same dance week after week,’ another said.

Speaking to Tess Daly about her journey on the show, Clara said: ‘I’ve had the best time ever, the best time ever and got a new friend for life. I’ve loved it, it’s one of the best things I’ve ever done, it has been a dream come true.’

Clara joins Caroline Quentin, Max George, Jason Bell and Jacqui Smith in being eliminated. Nicola Adams left after dance partner Katya Jones tested positive for coronavirus, but will return to dance in the final.

Strictly Come Dancing returns on Saturday at 7.25pm with the results show on Sunday at 7.30pm on BBC One.
