Strictly Come Dancing 2020: Gorka Marquez tears up at surprise message from Gemma Atkinson and daughter Mia

Strictly Come Dancing pro Gorka Marquez teared up as he watched a video of girlfriend Gemma Atkinson and daughter Mia.

The 30-year-old appeared on spin-off It Takes Two tonight, with dance partner Maisie Smith, to discuss their upcoming Cha Cha Cha.

At the very end of the chat, host Gethin Jones surprised him with a video from his family, leaving him visibly emotional.

‘You’re doing so well, guys,’ Gemma – who competed on the BBC series in 2017 – said, as Mia danced next to her.

‘Gorks I’m so proud of you, we’re so proud of you,’ she continued. ‘Cannot wait to see you and give you a big squeeze. We love you so much.

‘You did incredible last weekend and we cannot wait to see you this weekend.’

Tearing up, Gorka told the presenter: ‘You can’t do that!’

Adding that he missed them both, he concluded: ‘But it’s worth it, she’s smashing it so I know they’re proud.

‘I just cant wait to see them and dance with the little one.’

Gorka and Gemma became close when they competed on Strictly in 2017 – despite not being partnered together.

They have been inseparable ever since, welcoming their first child together last year.

Speaking about their relationship in a candid chat with Fabulous magazine, the Hollyoaks actress recently insisted the passion was still there.

‘People have said to us that after having a baby the passion goes, but I don’t think the passion for him could ever go,’ she said.

‘It’s still there, just sometimes it’s not a priority because you’re tired and you’ve got a baby.

‘If we’ve got a night free and Real Madrid are playing, Gorka goes into the spare room and speaks to his Spanish mates on FaceTime while the game’s on, and I love that because I can put some Epsom salts in a bath and relax.’

Sounds dreamy.

Strictly: It Takes Two continues on weekdays, at 6.30pm on BBC Two, and Strictly Come Dancing airs on Saturday, at 7.10pm, on BBC One.
