Strictly Come Dancing musical director Dave Arch has been hailed a ‘legend’ for his impressive guitar skills during Bill Bailey and Oti Mabuse’s tango, with one person describing him as the ‘real hero’ of the show.
During last night’s semi-final, comedian Bill and his partner Oti performed a dramatic tango for their second routine, dancing to Metallica’s Enter Sandman, a song chosen specifically by Bill.
Following the performance – which saw Bill and Oti collide with a camera on the dancefloor – co-host Claudia Winkleman showed the dancing partners a clip of Dave having the time of his life while playing the electric guitar in the orchestra pit.
‘I’m going to tell you something,’ Claudia said. ‘You made Dave Arch’s night. We’ve got footage of him… I mean, absolutely extraordinary.’
Bill reacted with glee to the footage of Dave rocking out to Metallica with his guitar, stating: ‘Look at that. Yes Dave!’, while Oti exclaimed and applauded the musician.
‘He’s been waiting all series to get his guitar out,’ Claudia added, as Strictly fans showered Dave with praise for his rendition of the heavy metal song.
‘Dave Arch jamming away to Metallica has made my year if I’m honest,’ one fan tweeted.
‘Loving that Dave Arch was living his best life rocking out to Metallica!’ another said.
Some Strictly viewers speculated that Dave has been spending time on video game Guitar Hero, while another labelled the composer a ‘legend’.
‘Aw Dave Arch shredding his guitar. Bless him,’ a viewer wrote.
Fans were also full of praise for the entire Strictly band, with one person stating: ‘Dave Arch and his band are phenomenal.’
Bill and Oti were awarded a score of 23 out of 30 for their tango, just slightly less than their score of 25 for their Charleston.
By the end of the night, EastEnders actor Maisie Smith and her partner Gorka Marquez had topped the leaderboard with a score of 59, after receiving their first perfect score of the series.
At the bottom was television presenter Ranvir Singh and her partner Giovanni Pernice, who achieved a combined score of 44 points for their two dances.
One couple will be eliminated from the competition tonight before next week’s final. But who will it be?
The Strictly Come Dancing semi-final results show airs tonight at 7.30pm on BBC One.
