Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall is reportedly going to make a special appearance during tonight’s Strictly Come Dancing final as a ‘massive fan’ of the show.
During the finale of this year’s Strictly, couples Bill Bailey and Oti Mabuse, HRVY and Janette Manrara, Maisie Smith and Gorka Márquez and Jamie Laing and Karen Hauer will go head to head in a bid to win the Glitterball trophy.
The night will likely be full of dazzling surprises, with each pairing tasked with performing three routines, including a Showdance, where they’ll be expected to pull out all the stops.
But another surprise may also be in store for the finalists, with Camilla expected to deliver a message.
A source claimed that representatives of the royal ‘rang long before filming began and said she was a massive fan – and wanted to be on the show’.
‘They said she would be happy to do anything, so when they asked her to film a cameo for the final, she leapt at the chance.’
The source told The Sun that it has been a ‘dream’ of Camilla’s ‘to appear on the series but royal protocol probably wouldn’t allow it’.
‘Instead she nailed a fabulous film in one take, and was brilliant,’ they said.
The source said that the Duchess ‘thanked Strictly for helping her get through the hell of 2020 and adding a bit of much-needed cheer’.
They added that she reportedly votes ‘every week’ and has been ‘quite open to friends and family’ about which couple she is rooting for.
While Camilla purportedly did not disclose who her favourite is, apparently it has been speculated that she is in Bill’s corner, ‘as he’s a bit older and was the obvious underdog from the start’.
Camilla’s supposed appearance on tonight’s Strictly won’t be the first time a royal has popped up on this year’s series.
Last month, the Duke of Sussex tuned in on video chat to share his support for close friend JJ Chalmers.
JJ and Prince Harry have been friends for several years, with the Strictly contestant competing in the Invictus Games, which the Duke founded.
The Invictus Games features sporting events in which wounded, injured and sick servicemen and women can compete.
‘When I first met JJ, he was a shell of himself,’ Prince Harry told JJ during their video chat.
‘But then to see you shine through Invictus and to be yourself again, that was the start of an amazing journey.’
JJ and his professional dance partner Amy Dowden were the sixth couple to be eliminated.
Metro.co.uk has contacted representatives of Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall and Strictly Come Dancing for comment.
The Strictly Come Dancing final will air tonight at 6pm on BBC One.
