The Olympic boxer was forced to quit the competition after her professional partner Katya Jones tested positive for Covid-19.
Speaking to returning It Takes Two presenter Rylan Clark-Neal, the boxer said it had been a difficult time for both of them.
‘It was horrible, I just felt sorry for Katya because I knew she was going to blame herself and it’s one of those things,’ she said.
‘I didn’t want her to blame herself because it wasn’t her fault and I never saw it that way.’
Nicola and Katya made history by becoming the first same sex couple on the show this series. Fans will be glad to see them given another chance to dance together – especially after Nicola was banned from returning to future series.
It was previously confirmed that Nicola and Katya plan to return to the show one last time as part of the Strictly grand finale. While they won’t be competing, they’ll be performing a brand new routine for fans.
Speaking after leaving the show, the athlete said in a statement: ‘Hey guys! I’m absolutely devastated my Strictly journey has come to an end so soon. ‘I had so much more to give and so many people to win this for!
Strictly Come Dancing continues on Saturday at 7.15pm on BBC One.
