On Thursday, Dan, 44, revealed that he had suffered a painful bump on his head after walking straight into a glass door by accident.
Having shared a picture on social media of the noticeable bump on his head, the BBC Breakfast presenter later went to hospital after feeling ‘wobbly’ the following day.
‘After whacking my noggin on the big glass window yesterday I got sent to A & E today because I was feeling a little wobbly,’ he said in a separate post.
‘A lovely nurse at Barnet Hospital called Karina checked my vitals and 6ft 9 Consultant Erik Witt gave me a CT scan to check for a bleed on the brain. Thankfully… All ok.’
In a new post shared on Twitter and Instagram, Dan shed further light on his ordeal, emphasising that he wasn’t ‘rushed’ to hospital as some people may have assumed.
‘FACT CHECK. I wasn’t RUSHED to hospital. I WENT,’ he said.
‘There was no bleed on the brain… I bumped my head.’
Dan added that while he was taking a few days to recover, he would not be missing any of the live shows coming up in the weeks ahead.
‘I’m taking a few days off training but I won’t be missing any shows,’ he said, before expressing his hope that viewers will enjoy tonight’s launch show.
When Dan revealed that he’d gone to hospital, he gave a special shoutout to his professional dancing partner, who’s yet to be announced.
After praising the ‘amazing’ NHS, he wrote: ‘Even though I’m not allowed to tell you who my Strictly pro is… I can tell you that she waited for hours in the car park to make sure I was ok.
‘Whatever happens on the telly… she has a friend for life.’
This year, Shirley Ballas is returning as head judge, with Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse and Anton Du Beke also on the panel, as Bruno Tonioli remains absent.
Shirley recently teased that she may end up quitting Strictly in the near future, what with her son and his wife living in the US.
Strictly Come Dancing 2021 launches tonight at 7.45pm on BBC One.
