Fans learned that the 36-year-old singer was training during the day and living the rockstar life at night, touring across Britain with band McFly.
During a mini Q&A session a fan asked how the star managed to balance family, tour and Strictly training, admitting that so far it hasn’t quite gone to plan.
Tom responded: ‘I didn’t do it very successfully. It was a silly idea.’
With his reply he posted a black and white photo of him lying on the floor in a dance training studio looking exhausted.
Tom, who is married to I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! winner Giovanna Fletcher, and partner Amy both tested positive for coronavirus.
A Strictly spokesperson confirmed the dreaded news on Sunday, which also resulted in Tom pulling out of Sunday night’s McFly gig in Glasgow.
The news came just hours after the pair made their Strictly debut, dancing the Cha Cha to Earth Wind and Fire’s September, during Saturday night’s live episode.
The All About You hitmaker shortly uploaded a video message to fans on Instagram.
He said: ‘I won’t be there for week two. I’m sorry to all my Strictly team, fellow contestants and to my brilliant partner Amy, sending you loads of love Amy.’
‘I will be watching on Saturday cheering you all on guys, I can’t wait to see your week two dances. I’ll be so jealous that I’m not there. I’ll be back for week three – Amy, I’m gonna dance my little Cuban heels off to hopefully get more than a four from Craig.’
However, if all is well both Tom and Amy will return to the dancefloor in Week 3.
Strictly Come Dancing returns Sunday at 7pm on BBC One.
