The pair landed in the bottom two alongside Caroline Quentin and Johannes Radebe, who left the competition after judges Craig Revel Horwood and Anton Du Beke both voted to save Maisie.
It comes after the EastEnders actress and her partner had also found themselves in the same position just last week, with Max George and Dianne Buswell being given the boot from the competition.
Over on Twitter, many viewers were not happy that Maisie and Gorka were in the dance-off yet again, with some even hailing them as one of the best couples in this year’s series.
‘How the hell is Maisie in the dance off again?’ one questioned.
‘What do people have against Maisie it’s crazy,’ another added.
‘Maisie again!?!?! Ffs,’ another disappointed fan said.
Following their performance in the dance-off, Anton said: ‘I thought both couples danced beautifully. I think they are beautiful couples who danced fabulous routines.
‘One couple was a bit cleaner than the other couple, there was a couple of mistakes in there. So the couple I would like to save are Maisie and Gorka.’
Giving his thoughts, Craig added: ‘I absolutely love both couples, but for me one couple was outstanding and danced as though their lives depended on it and that couple I would like to save, Maisie and Gorka.’
With two out of three votes going to Maisie and Gorka, it meant that Caroline and Johannes’ time on the show had come to an end.
Caroline then said: ‘I have had the honour and privilege of working with some of the greatest dancers this country has ever known, I mean I really believe it, I think they are absolutely fantastic, but of course my greatest gift coming on this show is this man.’
Johannes responded: ‘Oh my gosh, what a woman, thank you, thank you again, thank you, thank you, thank you.’
Strictly Come Dancing continues next Saturday at 7:15pm on BBC One.
