Strictly Come Dancing: Greg Wise and wife Emma Thompson not worried about show curse: ‘We haven’t got the energy’

Strictly Come Dancing’s Greg Wise has joked he doesn’t have the energy to fall victim to the ‘Strictly curse’ and cheat on wife Emma Thompson.

The actor made his debut on the Strictly dancefloor on Saturday night, with his Oscar-winning spouse cheering him on from the audience.

On Monday’s edition of Steph’s Packed Lunch on Channel 4, the 55-year-old actor, who was joined by his Strictly partner Karen Hauer, chatted to Steph about why he won’t fall victim to Strictly curse.

When asked about wife Emma, Greg said: ‘We’re 26 years in now, I think any of that kind of shenanigans.’

‘We’re too old, we haven’t got the energy, he added.

‘I’ve just the energy to do a step-ball change, I can’t do anything else, really.’

The former Harry Potter actress recently expressed little concern over her husband’s involvement in this year’s series.

Speaking to The Sun, Emma said: ‘I have put a packet of Durex into Greg’s good luck card. Just two. But you don’t know, do you? They haven’t got time for a lot of s***ging, I hope, they’ll be so exhausted.’

She added: ‘I am not going to the show every week. Karen’s gorgeous, she’s from Venezuela and is only 39’

The comedian performed the American smooth with Karen and was awarded a comfortable 24 points for the pleasure.

The Strictly ‘curse’ refers to contestants taking part in Strictly who are already in relationships, but end up finding romance with fellow participants, or their dance partner in most cases.

Some stars who have found love on the show are still together, including Stacey Dooley and Kevin Clifton, Rachel Riley and Pasha Kovalev, and Joe Sugg and Dianne Buswell.

No celebrities left the show during Saturday’s episode.

Instead, the judges’ scores will be carried over to next week when viewers will have the chance to vote for their favourite of the 15 couples.

Strictly Come Dancing continues on Saturday at 7pm on BBC One, while Steph’s Packed Lunch airs weekdays at 12.30pm on Channel 4 and All 4.
