Former Strictly Come Dancing star James Jordan thinks a man could win the competition this year.

In the launch show, which aired on Saturday, the annual Strictly pairing took place, and we couldn’t be more excited to see the celebs partnered up with their dancing pros.

Speaking about the line-up, professional dancer James, who was a pro on the show between 2006-2013, believes the ‘men look stronger than the females’.

‘You’ve got Max George, Jason Bell, JJ Chalmers, Jamie Laing, HRVY, they all look like they could all do really well,’ he began.

‘I think the men look stronger on the line up than the females, and I’ll put that out there as well.’

James, who was also joined by his wife Ola – together have predicted who they think will be in the final three.

‘We reckon it’s going to be between Maisie, HRVY and Max this year. And it’s true – if you look at all the years of Strictly, all the young ones do better,’ James added to Hello!

It also seems that Strictly viewers agree with James and Ola’s predictions, as they think Maisie will take home the Glitterball trophy this year.

During the launch, Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman revealed the pairings throughout the night.

Last year’s winner Kelvin Fletcher also took to the dancefloor to perform a special socially distanced routine with Oti Mabuse.

Who are the Strictly 2020 pairings?

Clara Amfo is paired with Aljaž Škorjanec

Ranvir Singh is paired with Giovanni Pernice

HRVY is paired with Janette Manrara

Caroline Quentin is paired with Johannes Radebe

Jamie Laing is paired with Karen Hauer

Jason Bell is paired with Luba Mushtuk

Nicola Adams is paired with Katya Jones

Jacqui Smith is paired with Anton Du Beke

Maisie Smith is paired with Gorka Marquez

JJ Chalmers is paired with Amy Dowden

Bill Bailey is paired with Oti Mabuse

Max George is paired with Dianne Buswell

There were fears that the series wouldn’t go ahead this year after the show missed its usual September start date due to the coronavirus pandemic.

But, the Glitterball trophy is still up for grabs – even if it is running for only nine weeks this year instead of the typical 13.

The change of dates mean that Strictly staples Halloween week and Blackpool week have been ditched.

The live shows will kick off on Saturday, October 24 and continue until December 19 – the weekend before Christmas.

Strictly Come Dancing airs on Saturday at 7.25pm on BBC One.
