Strictly Come Dancing judge Shirley Ballas says blood work results are ‘a little concerning’ as she thanks viewers who spotted lump

Strictly Come Dancing head judge Shirley Ballas has shared a new update on her health with fans, revealing her blood work is ‘a little concerning’ for her doctor.

Earlier this month, Shirley, 61, booked a doctor’s appointment after several viewers reached out to her after spotting a lump under her arm while watching the show.

The ballroom dancer has since been updating her fans regularly on her health, explaining that she was going to hospital for ‘full blood work’ and that she found out her hormone levels are ‘all over the place’.

In a new video shared on Instagram, Shirley said that she had received her blood work back, writing in the caption that it was ‘a little concerning’ and so her doctor has made an appointment at King’s Hospital in London for further examination.

In the short clip, she opened up to her 198K followers about the stage she’s currently at with her medical check-ups.

‘Since several of you thought they saw a lump under my arm and I went to get that checked, then the doctor said that she thought my levels were not right, my hormone levels weren’t right,’ she said.

‘So I went and had a lot of blood work done, and now the testosterone’s come back ultra high, the adrenal glands need a scan and my ovaries need a scan, my oestrogen levels are extremely low. All in all, a little concerning for my doctor.’

Describing King’s as ‘amazing’, Shirley once again expressed her gratitude to those who voiced their concern over the lump they spotted when she raised her arms on Strictly.

‘And all because several concerned people bothered to let me know what was going on. I love you all and I appreciate you, and thank you,’ she said.

Several people shared messages of support for Shirley in response to her video, including a number of Strictly stars.

‘Take care of yourself,’ wrote fellow judge Motsi Mabuse, while former contestant Joe Sugg said: ‘Sending love Shirley, wishing you all the best.’

‘Sending you so much love Shirley,’ added John Whaite, while Nikita Kuzmin commented: ‘Wishing you all the best Shirley.’

Strictly Come Dancing returns this Saturday at 7.10pm on BBC One.
