Zara McDermott has spoken out about a health ailment she had when she was 26.
The Strictly Come Dancing star, who rose to popularity on Love Island in 2018 and is currently dating I’m A Celebrity’s Sam Thompson, has revealed that she has early indications of osteoporosis.
Osteoporosis is a disease that weakens bones, making them more brittle and prone to fracture. It develops slowly over time and is frequently detected after a fall or injury that produces a break.
The TV personality turned to Instagram to describe how she has experienced early indications of the bone illness that her mother Karen and grandmother also have.
In an Instagram Q&A, the Made in Chelsea star answered to a fan question about her favourite coffee by saying, ‘I usually drink a skinny mocha!’ I used to drink almond milk, but I recently discovered that I have early indicators of osteoporosis (my mother and grandmother also have it!) so I’m making changes to include more calcium into my diet!’
The illness is treated with bone-strengthening medications and calcium supplementation, although it is persistent.
Women are more likely than males to lose bone density after menopause, however anybody can be diagnosed regardless of age or gender.
A family history of osteoporosis, particularly a hip fracture in a parent, might raise the chance of acquiring the illness.
Zara was the sixth celebrity to be booted from Strictly Come Dancing at the end of October.
She and dancing partner Graziano Di Prima missed out on the Glitterball trophy when their Charleston routine to Jeepers Creepers by Asl Donahue and his Orchestra failed to convince the BBC judges.
Meanwhile, Zara’s boyfriend Sam, with whom she appeared in the SW4 reality show’s iconic sobbing sequence in which she pleaded for his forgiveness, is still in the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!Jungle.
After what appeared to be a ‘unfair’ Bushtucker Trial a few days ago, many rallied to Sam’s rescue.
The 31-year-old joined Nella Rose, 26, for Fishy Business, which was Sam’s first trial following a public vote, but Nella’s seventh challenge.
Nella was encircled by spiders as Sam swam feverishly up and down a tank full of sea animals.
Fans thought he did lots of the heavy lifting, as one asked: ‘What was Nella’s purpose during this trial? Sam did all the work’.
‘Sam could’ve done this challenge by himself, and Ant & Dec could’ve read him the questions whilst he was in the water. If there’s going to be more 2 people Bushtucker trials, made them BOTH work for it!’, another said.
