Strictly Come Dancing pro Neil Jones and girlfriend Luisa Eusse are to live apart after ‘moving too quickly’ in their relationship.

The pair became an item this summer, moved in after only two weeks together to build on their romance while in lockdown.

However, Neil has admitted that it has already caused trouble in their relationship, with Luisa being called out for ‘throwing the show into jeopardy’ by breaking lockdown rules to head out to parties.

Now he’s hoping that time away from each other might help them last.

He told Hello! Magazine: ‘We need to take it back to the beginning where we can start to get to know each other and actually go on dates when lockdown allows.

‘That is something we haven’t been able to do.’

Neil, who is not participating in the competition with a celeb this year, then revealed he’d been having crisis talks with Luisa following accusations she may have cheated on him, and amid the claims she had been breaching restriction rules.

As a result, Neil says the pair have ‘turned a corner’ and are looking toward a future together.

‘I can’t stand here and say everything is perfect even now,’ he said.

‘Luisa is a free spirit and loves life and it’s not easy to be in the public eye, but she accepts she has made mistakes that could also have an impact on my life.’

Neil Jones is one of four pro dancers not partnered up for this year’s series, with a shorter series run time meaning there had to be fewer competitors.

However, alongside Nancy Xu, Graziano Di Prima and Nadiya Bychkova, he remains a prominent feature in the pro group routines, and is under quarantine rules in case injury means he needs to step in.

He has been on the show since 2016, and last year was partnered with Alex Scott for his first competing stint.

They placed fifth, with Kelvin Fletcher being crowned the winner.

Strictly Come Dancing continues Saturday at 7.15pm on BBC One.
