The Good Morning Britain presenter became the latest contestant to be eliminated from the competition last weekend after ending up in the bottom two with Made In Chelsea star Jamie Laing.
Speaking with Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid on GMB on Tuesday, Ranvir opened up about her working relationship with Giovanni and said: ‘He doesn’t accept anything less than what you believe you can do. He’s very challenging in the training room… if you’re in the same room as him and you’re on his team, you’re sort of duty bound to be as driven as him.
‘He had to change the way he was teaching me… because I was finding it so exposing. The thing with dancing is it’s very much “look at me. Don’t listen to me, just look at me” and that has never been me. I’m not that person who puts my body out there, I don’t really feel that way about myself.
‘I was very naive about it.
Praising Giovanni’s support, Ranvir continued: ‘He was really important, I think if I had been with somebody else they might have gone at my pace and I might not have improved so quickly.’
Much to Piers’ delight, she added: ‘His personality and my personality, we’re chalk and cheese and I think sometimes opposites can bring out the best in each other.’
Susanna later got her prodding stick out and pressed Ranvir on whether she and Giovanni would remain ‘friends’ after spending so much time ‘up close and personal’.
‘It is weird when you’ve been so up close and personal with somebody else for an intense period of time and you’ve been pursuing the same journey and you’ve been physically, emotionally for a long period of time, do you stay friends with Giovanni now?’ Susanna asked.
Ranvir then revealed: ‘I’m gonna see him today as we’re doing a group dance for Saturday, so I’ve actually got to go back into rehearsals for that.
‘I think we will stay friends. Why not because we’ve experienced something quite deep and intense actually. That’s the very special thing so of course we’re going to stay friends. I adore him, actually he’s a sweet little soul.’
It comes after a body language expert ruled out a romantic connection between Ranvir and Giovanni, concluding that their chemistry is simply friendly.
Judi James told Metro.co.uk: ‘We want to believe in this unbelievably romantic and sensual-looking couple like we want to believe in Father Christmas (or Torvill & Dean back in the day).
‘Giovanni seems to have achieved the most amazing make-over on Ranvir. But is their passion for real?’
Judi continued: ‘I hate to say it but, despite their hugely convincing displays of closeness, I saw several hints that Giovanni might have been quietly retreating now his job was done.’
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
