Strictly Come Dancing’s Tom Fletcher surprises Amy Dowden with her BAFTA on It Takes Two

Strictly Come Dancing star Tom Fletcher presented his pro dance partner Amy Dowden with the sweetest surprise during their appearance on It Takes Two tonight.

After their interview with Janette Manrara discussing their paso double routine this upcoming weekend, Tom had something special in store for Amy.

Janette said: ‘A couple of weeks ago we revealed that you won a Welsh BAFTA and I think we have got something very special that Tom wants to give you today.’

As Tom stood up to grab Amy’s award from behind the sofa, he confessed: ‘Because you were busy teaching me how to dance, you couldn’t pick up your award.

‘So here it is, congratulations!’ said the McFly frontman as Amy started squealing as soon as she saw the statuette.

‘It’s heavy,’ she commented as soon as she got it in her hands. ‘Don’t drop it,’ quipped Tom.

Amy brought home the prestigious award at last month’s BAFTA Cymru ceremony.

She was honoured for her documentary Strictly Amy: Crohn’s & Me about her battle with the chronic illness.

The Welsh pro dancer took to social media to share a video update after the award was announced saying: ‘Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart, you have no idea what this means to me.’

In the caption of the video, the 31-year-old wrote: ‘I am soooo thrilled (a little bit tearful) to win a BAFTA for my documentary Strictly Amy: Crohn’s & Me.’

She also added: ‘This is such an important film for the IBD community and I hope it has helped many more people understand this chronic condition.’
