Strictly Live Tour: Rose Ayling-Ellis and Giovanni Pernice reign supreme yet again as they’re crowned winners in first show

Strictly Come Dancing stars Rose Ayling-Ellis and Giovanni Pernice are simply unstoppable, as the pair were crowned the winners on the first night of the live tour.

Just last month, the dancing duo won the Glitterball Trophy on the latest series of the BBC competition, resulting in the EastEnders actor becoming the first ever Deaf victor of the show.

Several members of the cast have reunited for the live tour travelling across the UK, which began in Birmingham last night.

Rose and Giovanni continued their winning streak at the first stop, claiming the victory and celebrating later in a jubilant video shared on the dancer’s Instagram story.

‘Hello. We’ve just done our very first show, and… we won it! Yes! I want to say thank you to the Birmingham people’ an elated Rose, 27, said to the camera.

Giovanni, 31, emphasised how wonderful it was to be back on the live tour performing in front of a live audience, as the 2021 tour had to be cancelled due to the pandemic.

‘It’s so nice to be back and perform in front of the live audience finally after two years. So thank you for coming tonight!’ he said, as his partner remarked that it was ‘completely different from a live show.’

Giovanni finished the video by praising Rose for her performance, telling her: ‘Well done you. It went good, well done,’ before planting a kiss on her cheek.

The pair were in high spirits after their live tour win, as they arrived back at the venue with their cast mates, including Kai Widdrington and Maisie Smith, who took AJ Odudu’s place after the finalist’s injury.

John Whaite, Janette Manrara and Aljaž Škorjanec were also spotted getting out of their cars, as were judges Craig Revel Horwood and Bruno Tonioli.

Ahead of the first show of the tour, Nikita Kuzmin announced that he had tested positive for Covid-19 and so had to miss part of the event.

‘So sad to be missing a portion of the Strictly Live Tour, but unfortunately I tested Positive for COVID-19,’ he wrote on Instagram.

‘Lots of luck to all the amazing Strictly Cast. Will be back as soon as I can :).’

Strictly Come Dancing is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
