Strictly star Johannes Radebe bursts into laughter as Alex Jones asks if he and John Whaite ‘bumped bits’

Strictly Come Dancing star Johannes Radebe couldn’t contain his laughter when Alex Jones came out with an unexpected question on The One Show, asking if he and John Whaite ‘bumped bits’ on the 2021 series.

On tonight’s episode of the BBC talk show, Alex and Ronan Keating welcomed the professional dancer on for a chat, where he recalled how wonderful it was when he surprised his family by visiting them in South Africa.

As the presenters commended him on his beautiful partnership with Great British Bake Off star John, with the pair finishing as runners-up, Alex questioned what it was like for Johannes to adapt to dancing with another man.

‘What were the logistical nightmares of dancing with another man, did you bump… bits? Do you know what I mean?’ she asked, as Ronan, Johannes and fellow guest Martin Clunes burst into hysterics.

Alex then tried to clarify her question, exclaiming: ‘Knees! I meant knees,’ as Ronan put his head in his hands.

‘I struggled!’ Johannes responded, chuckling, before telling her that he understood where she was ‘coming from’.

‘The dynamic was obviously different. I’m used to leading ladies and lifting them in the air. I get where you’re coming from, and John had to be lifting me in the process,’ he replied.

‘That was tricky, that was tricky, but the man’s patience, the way he allowed me to figure it out and still teach him in the process, I find that incredible, so I had the most amazing season and I fell in love with my artform again, I can’t tell you.’

Several viewers remarked on how awkward they found the exchange, with one tweeting: ‘Did Alex Jones really just ask Johannes if him and John “bumped bits” while dancing? It was funny but also a very inappropriate thing to ask…’

‘Is #BumpBits trending, yet?’ someone else quipped.

Earlier on the programme, the dancer – who is promoting his upcoming solo tour Freedom – admitted that he had to ‘get off social media for a bit’ during the height of Strictly, because he was a ‘hot mess’ over the ‘pure joy’ he felt from fans.

He added that the support him and John received from people of different ages and from different communities ‘restored his faith in humanity’.

Johannes recently opened up on the ‘beautiful impact’ John has had on his life, saying that his family in South Africa were ‘desperate’ to meet him.

‘The pride reflected on their faces for everything we’ve accomplished is heart-warming,’ he wrote in a caption on Instagram

He continued, saying: ‘The aim has always been to inspire.

‘Representation of any minority group in media acknowledges their existence in the real world, influencing societies openness and understanding of others which makes for a better world for all.’

The One Show airs weeknights at 7pm on BBC One.
