Strictly’s Giovanni Pernice admits he would have been ‘jealous’ if anyone else got Rose Ayling-Ellis

Giovanni Pernice has opened up about his and Rose Ayling-Ellis’s amazing partnership, and revealed he would be jealous if another professional had been partnered with her.

The pair appeared on It Takes Two on Thursday where they discussed the routines they have coming up for the final as they battle it out for the glitterball trophy.

Rose explained: ‘From week one until now I see the scores are getting more and more, and I realised that I’m actually not that bad!

‘I mean I’m improving and I’m definitely starting to believe in myself more.’

Speaking about how they managed to choreograph such faultless routines with Rose being deaf and therefore unable to hear the music, Giovanni says the pair worked out their own system.

He revealed: ‘I think at first obviously it was different because we have never done anything like this before, so I realised that I have to change and adapt my way of teaching.

‘Only with the help of Rose we managed to find this way that worked for both of us. So we ended up both understanding what was good for us.’

Discussing how much he has loved working with Rose, Giovanni admitted: ‘Since day one it’s been a dream.

’It really has been a dream and if she was doing it with somebody else I would be jealous. I’d be jealous like “Hmmm, I want to dance with her!”’

The couple are set to dance in this weekend’s final against John Whaite and Johannes Radebe and AJ Odudu and Kai Widdrington.

With all three finalists having performed incredibly well throughout the competition, it will no doubt be a very close call for who will walk away as champion with the coveted glitter ball trophy on the night.

Strictly Come Dancing 2021’s final airs on Saturday from 7pm on BBC One.
