Giovanni Pernice has revealed how difficult it was for him to step into dance partner Rose Ayling-Ellis’s world and dance to silence on last week’s Strictly Come Dancing.
The professional dancer, 31, choreographed part of their couple’s choice dance to take place in complete silence last week, to give viewers an indication of what it is like for Rose while she is dancing.
The poignant moment, which celebrated the Deaf community, may have looked flawless got viewers but even Giovanni admitted it was far more difficult than it looked – a challenge Rose, 27, has had to overcome every single week in the competition.
He revealed on Friday’s This Morning: ‘Doing even 10 seconds of silence, I am professional dancer who has been doing this for 23 years, but even 10 seconds of silence was so hard.
‘Because in those 10 seconds you have to think about your steps, you have to keep on the beat, so I was like “Now I understand what she has been doing for eight weeks”.
‘Those 10 seconds were just powerful, it was just very, very, very good.’
Viewers were loving the couple on the show and were calling for them to win Strictly altogether, tweeting: ‘What a lovely interview with @RoseAylingEllis and @pernicegiovann1 on #ThisMorning. Every week Rose and Giovanni are sensational and Rose is a true inspiration to everyone. I really hope she wins #Strictly this year. I love her partnership with Giovanni as well.’
Others added: ‘Rose and Giovanni on #ThisMorning. I love them so much. Rose is such a positive role model’ and ‘If Rose and Giovanni don’t win it’ll be the worst ending to 2021.’
Another wrote: ‘As Well as rose being amazing for all her achievements in a silent world she also IS a beautiful dancer.’
This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV.
