Susanna Reid isn’t a fan of Matt Hancock’s selection in the new season of Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins.
Susanna, 52, couldn’t help but mention the former Health Secretary when discussing the day’s events on Good Morning Britain.
Susanna and co-host Richard Madeley debated the Children’s Rights Organisations Alliance’s allegation that the pandemic’s harm to children might have been avoided.
Susanna’s thoughts drifted to some of the officials who were making significant choices during the epidemic, notably former Education Minister Gavin Williamson and Hancock, after addressing school closures.
‘He [Williamson] argued for keeping them open, it was the health secretary, Matt Hancock, now on Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins [who wanted schools to close],’ claimed Susanna.
The presenter then launched into an impassioned speech.
‘Honestly, how did one person get a knighthood and another person get to be a celebrity after the covid pandemic when you see the effects of the lockdown on our children?’ she asked.
While waving her hands which seemed to further signify her annoyance, Susanna added: ‘Honestly, it’s something I feel so passionately about. The knock-on effect on their education is catastrophic, but what is even more catastrophic is children were locked in their homes with abusers in some cases.’
Hancock, 44, is taking part in one of the most difficult programmes on television less than a year after appearing on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here, Jungle – a move that drew much criticism despite his final third-place finish.
His reality TV career follows his resignation from Boris Johnson’s cabinet in 2021 due to a violation of Covid social distancing restrictions.
In government offices, the married father-of-three was observed kissing a coworker, Gina Coladangelo.
He irritated a handful of his co-stars while competing in Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins.
Along with the severe beastings and rigorous mental tests, the party must live in a rudimentary camp in the forest of Thung Ui, North Vietnam, with no amenities and rationed food.
When it came to dinner time, Danielle Lloyd confessed that Hancock wasn’t always a team player.
‘There were times when it came to the food when Matt would help himself to massive portions.
‘I was fuming!’
Despite, Danielle, 39, spotting his habit she decided to let it go unchallenged.
‘Nobody took it up with him. It was hard to do it in that environment,’ she explained at the series launch.
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV. Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins on Channel 4 continues at 9pm on Channel 4 on Sunday.
