Taylor Swift debuts passionate 10-minute version of All Too Well on Saturday Night Live

Taylor Swift has given the people what they want by performing the new, extended version of All Too Well on Saturday Night Live.

The singer, 31, appeared on the iconic comedy show on Saturday where she performed the lead single off her new album, the re-recorded version of 2012 album Red.

In the original album, breakup ballad All Too Well was five minutes long, but Taylor’s new version has seen it extended to 10 minutes, accompanied by an impressive short film.

Taylor passionately performed the extended new release for the first time, with the track quickly cementing itself as a fan favourite from the new album.

Looking stunning in an all-black outfit and wearing her trademark red lipstick, the Bad Blood chart-topper was met with screams, claps and cheers as she was introduced to the stage – which was covered in autumn leaves.

Taylor’s short film, starring Dylan O’Brien and Sadie Sink, was screened in the background during the song.

Comedian Colin Jost later joked: ‘Never break up with Taylor Swift. She will sing a 10-minute song about you on national television.’

The mood was quickly lightened as the 22 singer then popped up in a sketch alongside Pete Davidson, titled Three Sad Virgins, which saw them roasting the comedian’s friends in a joke music video.

Taylor stole the show as she sang about how Pete’s friends looked like ‘a sad Ron Weasley’ with ‘the sex appeal of a scarecrow’.

The sketch and performance garnered a big reaction on social media, with comedian Alex Goldschmidt saying that it ‘felt like one of those career-making performances that takes an artist to a whole new level.

‘I am completely blown away …. again.’

One fan, referring to a heartbreaking lyric in the song, wrote: ‘Someone tell 21 year old Taylor Swift it gets better becayse she just performed All Too Well 10 minutes on SNL and killed it’.

The song, first released in 2012, is a break-up anthem widely believed to be about Jake Gylenhaal, who Taylor had been dating beforehand.

A short film released with the new version stars Stranger Things’ Sadie Sink with Teen Wolf actor Dylan O’Brien and tells the story of the beginning and end of a relationship.

It concludes with Sadie’s character 13 years later – played by Taylor herself – doing a reading from her newly-released book titled All Too Well.

Red is available to buy and stream now.
