Ted Lasso fans in tears as latest episode reveals character’s heartbreaking backstory

Warning: spoilers ahead for Ted Lasso season two.

Ted Lasso has been charming viewers in recent months, however a poignant moment from the latest episode of season 2 left fans very emotional.

The second season of the show has just two instalments left after Friday night’s episode finally delved deeper into Ted’s (Jason Sudeikis) past.

Up until now, it had been hinted there were some difficult events that had taken place in the football coach’s past, but things became a lot clearer in the latest episode.

Episode eight saw Ted decide to confront the emotions surrounding his father’s death by calling on Dr Sharon Fieldstone (Sarah Niles).

He explained to the AFC Richmond’s psychologist his father died by suicide when he was a teenager.

‘My father killed himself when I was 16, that happened to me and my mum,’ he tearfully told her.

‘And look, I don’t know If that’s where maybe some of my issues stem from, but… I just wanted to let you know.’

It comes just a few episodes after Ted told Jamie (Phil Dunster) of his father, that he was ‘a lot harder on himself than he ever was on me.’

The episode, titled Man City, addressed the previous moment as well as several other scenes which have foreshadowed something traumatic from when he was younger.

Fans were left in tears by the very emotional episode of the show which included Ted’s revelation.

‘We just watched the two newest Ted Lasso episodes… damn that show knows how to hit me in the feels. #TedLasso,’ agreed a fourth.





It comes just a few days after actor Nate actor Nick Mohammed opened up about the ‘rumbling discourse’ surrounding his character as he seems to be undergoing a character transformation.

Nick addressed the change in his Nate, assuring fans: ‘Just a quickie to say I’m aware of the rumbling discourse within the #TedLasso community on Nate’s journey this season.

‘It all adds up. Promise to respond once we get to the very end, for now, however, I remain a silly little actor playing a d**khead!’ he added with a clown emoji at the end.
