A terrified Bradley Walsh attempted to overcome his fear of heights by tackling the world’s tallest freestanding climbing wall.
In a first-look clip from tonight’s Bradley & Barney Walsh: Breaking Dad, things got a bit too much for The Chase host when he and his son tried to climb the wall, which is as tall as a 10-storey building.
The climbing wall titled the Excalibur is based in the Netherlands and reaches just over 121 feet (37 metres) tall.
In the clip, an emotional Bradley tried to hold back the tears as he apologised to his son.
‘Barn, I am sorry mate,’ he told his son with a shaky voice.
To which Barney replied: ‘Don’t be sorry. I am proud of you, I’m really proud.’
‘Remember what the guy said dad,’ he added. ‘If there’s nothing to hold on to with your hands, look for your feet first.’
‘I’m not going to be able make it,’ Bradley added.
‘We don’t have to make it,’ Barney responded.
Elsewhere in the first episode, Bradley and Barney try out one of the Netherlands’ oldest sports, canal jumping.
The pair then don lycra for a spot of velodrome track cycling alongside a world champion.
The upcoming ITV series will see the pair travelling from their home in Essex all the way to the Amalfi Coast in Italy.
However, they do make a few pit stops along the way.
Speaking about what viewers can expect from the new series, Barney began: ‘There’s a bit of everything rock climbing, pole vault across the rivers,
the velodrome with the world champion was something quite spectacular.’
‘Meeting world champions, here’s the great thing, then me having to do
what they do,’ Bradley added.
‘That is all you have got to go with it. Setting me up with world
champions and me having to do what they do.’
Bradley & Barney Walsh: Breaking Dad starts tonight at 8pm on ITV.
