The Big Bang Theory’s Jim Parsons auditions with David Tennant to replace Michael Sheen in Staged

Michael Sheen was momentarily replaced by The Big Bang Theory’s Jim Parsons during the latest series of Staged in just one of the show’s huge cameo appearances.

Michael and David Tennant launched Staged during the height of the first lockdown, with the comedy following two actors rehearsing for a play via Zoom.

This time in series two, however, they’re joined by a whole slew of famous faces including Phoebe Waller-Bridge and actual Cate Blanchett.

And in episode six, The Warthog and the Mongoose, Sheldon Cooper icon Jim is auditioning to replace Michael after he was re-cast.

With David looking glum and wallowing on his sofa, Jim tries to go through lines with little success.

It’s gold.

Staged’s second series follows on from the success of series one [in the show], with producers in the US looking to bring the idea over to the States.

However, while Michael and David are some of the UK’s finest thespians, there are concerns they’re not recognisable enough across the pond.

Enter Emmy Award winner Jim.

David and Jim recently collaborated on the Doctor Who star’s aptly titled podcast, David Tennant Does A Podcast.

Jim talked candidly about his decision to leave The Big Bang Theory, coming out as a gay man in the industry and coping with fame.

Staged is available to stream on BBC iPlayer now.
