The Big Bang Theory’s Mayim Bialik has been confirmed as one of the latest guest stars stepping in to host Jeopardy! after Alex Trebek’s death.
The actress and neuroscientist will take over from the legendary host for a week of episodes, as part of a team of celebrity guests hosts.
Trebek, who died on November 8 aged 80, was beloved as the show’s presenter, fronting the show since 1984.
He continued to record episodes up until two weeks before his death, with his final sign off airing January 8.
As a result, his replacement has yet to be chosen or officially announced, with long-time celebrity fans of the gameshow stepping in for the foreseeable future.
Other guest hosts announced include Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, Katie Couric and Bill Whitaker.
More names are expected to be announced later in the show’s run.
Ken Jennings, a former Jeopardy! champion, was to take on the job, and got emotional as he paid tribute to Trebek’s legacy.
‘Sharing this stage with Alex Trebek was one of the greatest honors of my life,’ he said.
‘Not many things in life are perfect, but Alex did this job pretty much perfectly for more than 36 years, and it was even better up close.
‘We were dazzled by his intelligence, charm and grace.’
‘No one will ever replace the great Alex Trebek,’ Jennings said, as he choked up with tears.
‘But we can honor him by playing the game he loved.’
