The Big Breakfast made a triumphant return to Channel 4, and fans were living for every single second of it.

AJ Odudu and Mo Gilligan were on hand to present the special edition, as part of the broadcaster’s Black To Front series.

They were joined by a string of celebrity guests in the studio, with Love Island’s Toby Aromolaran, Lisa Mafia and Judi Love, and a news segment from the hilarious Munya Chawawa

Seriously, waking up to Lisa belting out So Solid Crew’s 21 Seconds is the biggest mood.

If that wasn’t enough, Idris Elba, Usain Bolt and Eve were just some of the names involved in segments throughout the morning.

In an extra special dose of nostalgia, the Big Breakfast was filmed live from its original location in East London, the Lock Keeper’s Cottages.

Our favourite moment came when AJ and Mo invited actual Guy Goma on to discuss the awkward mix-up which saw him being grilled on live TV in a case of mistaken identity.

If you don’t quite remember – and how could you forget? – the computer technician had been visiting the BBC for a job interview in 2006, but was mistaken for technology expert Guy Kewney, and was asked to comment on an Apple court case.

Guy expertly managed the situation, and attempted to answer the questions thrown at him before revealing the truth.

Viewers couldn’t get enough of the important scenes, and flocked to Twitter to praise the episode.

‘Currently watching the Big Breakfast on Channel 4…..,’ a follower wrote. ‘This is the best thing on morning TV for the past few years!!!

‘The chemistry between Mo and AJ is perfect! Channel 4 needs to bring this back permanently!! #TheBigBreakfast #channel4.’

Another agreed: ‘Rah #TheBigBreakfast is what we all need! Waking up to this show is nostalgic, emotional and just absolutely fantastic also waking up to people of colour on morning on TV is what brilliant.

‘AJ, Mo, Judi on the bed and legend Phil @E32NN.’

A fan urged: ‘So does everyone want #TheBigBreakfast back full time again?? C’mon @Channel4 You know we want it!’

‘They should make this a regular fixture tbh #TheBigBreakfast,’ one suggested.

Krishnan Guru-Murthy got in on the action, adding: ‘#TheBigBreakfast is back!!! And it’s already brilliant. Clearly just what Britain needs right now.

‘Currently just for one day UNLESS popular demand changes that. You can change TV history….’

The Big Breakfast previously aired from 1992 to 2002 and featured a rolling line-up of hosts, including Chris Evans and Gaby Roslin.

Other programming across Channel 4’s Black To Front series will see journalist and broadcaster Sir Trevor McDonald, 82, host long-running game show Countdown, replacing Ann Robinson.

Spice Girl Mel B will host an episode of Steph’s Packed Lunch, where she will be joined by popular football pundit Chris Kamara.

The Big Breakfast is available to watch on catchup, on All4.
