The Book of Boba Fett opens the next chapter in the Star Wars universe, as the bounty hunter vies to return to his former glory in his own TV series on Disney Plus.

The character, played by Temuera Morrison, made his return in season two of The Mandalorian, which came out last year, after being presumed dead.

Having first been introduced in the original Star Wars films, Boba appeared to meet his demise after being knocked into a sarlacc pit by Han Solo (Harrison Ford).

Nonetheless, decades later, he has his signature green armour back on, having helped Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) retrieve the Child, aka Baby Yoda.

He’s joined in his latest adventure by deadly assassin Fennec Shand (Ming-Na Wen), who also crossed paths with Mando in the past.

In the new show, the pair return to Tatooine, where they strive to claim the throne from which Jabba the Hutt once reigned.

When does The Book of Boba Fett come out?

The Book of Boba Fett launches on Wednesday December 29, exactly a week after the season finale of Hawkeye on Disney Plus.

Its launch also falls shortly after the one-year anniversary of The Mandalorian season two finale, which revealed the return of the famed bounty hunter in his own eponymous show.

There will be seven episodes in total in the series, with each instalment being released on a weekly basis.

Therefore, the last episode should air on Wednesday February 9 in the new year.

Each week, episodes are expected to be available to watch from 8am GMT in the UK, following in the footsteps of the recent Marvel shows and The Mandalorian.

Is there a trailer for The Book of Boba Fett?

The trailer for The Book of Boba Fett is action-packed to say the least as Boba and Fennec take on the underworld in a galaxy far far away.

Check out the teaser below.

The Book of Boba Fett cast

The Book of Boba Fett sees the highly-anticipated return of Temuera as the titular character, having first played his clone father, Jango Fett, in the Star Wars prequels.

The actor went on to voice Boba in the 2004 re-release of The Empire Strikes Back, before finally taking on the character in live-action in The Mandalorian, confirming that he had survived his fall into the sarlacc pit from the 1983 film Return of the Jedi.

It took almost 40 years, but the confirmation of Boba’s survival was definitely worth the wait for scores of Star Wars fans across the globe.

Joining Temuera is Ming-Na, who reprises her role as mercenary Fennec from The Mandalorian.

After Fennec was left for dead, Boba helped to restore her health, as she became his right-hand woman.

Other members of the cast include Jennifer Beals and David Pasquesi, who are both playing characters from a humanoid species called Twi’leks, while Sophie Thatcher has been cast in an undisclosed role.

While fans might hope for Pedro Pascal’s return as Din Djarin, Disney and Lucasfilm are no doubt keeping their lips sealed on any possible cameos that could arise.

Can Mark Hamill’s shock comeback as the young Luke Skywalker in The Mandalorian season two finale ever be topped?
