The Celebrity Circle: Duncan James blocked after Saffron Barker and Lady Leshurr eliminates him

Duncan James has become the first contestant to be eliminated from The Celebrity Circle.

The Blue singer and Hollyoaks actor was given his marching orders from Saffron Baker and Lady Leshurr, who were voted the most popular players in the first rankings.

In a new twist to the format, both had to publicly pick another player to become vulnerable in the game, before they were taken to a private chat to make the final decision.

As a result, Denise Van Outen and Duncan knew they were at risk for a full day before the decision was made.

Saffron broke the news and said: ‘This was such a hard decision and together we thought long and hard about this… The reason that we have chosen this Player is because we feel as if the other Player is genuine and has so much more to give to the group.’

She then revealed it to be Duncan.

Duncan took a final bow at the news, saying that Denise was ‘the better player’ while Denise looked on stunned.

‘I have to bow out. I’m still winning. I get my gold medal, and I donate my fee to Stand Up To Cancer, and I really enjoyed it. So thank you, thank you all,’ he said.

During deliberations, Lady Leshurr, who is playing as TV host Big Narstie, tried to vouch for Duncan, finding it strange that Denise had started flirting in order to try and get ‘Narstie’ on side.

However, Saffron was a bit more strategic, and while she didn’t tell her fellow ‘influencer’, believed that keeping Denise in the game would benefit them, as she suspects she’ll be eliminated soon anyway.

The game, which was pre-recorded last year, will air across the next week, with Charlotte Crosby about to enter the game playing Peter Andre.

In his final goodbye, Duncan was allowed to speak to one player to see if they were real or not – and was shocked to find ‘Gemma Collins’ was actually Loose Women’s Nadia Sawalha and Kay McAdams.

Currently, there are only two people playing as themselves – Saffron and Denise – with everyone else taking on an alter ego.

The Celebrity Circle continues tomorrow on Channel 4.
